The last flakes of snow kiss the sweet earth
as it begins its slow process of awakening.
The old plants begin to stir and birth
new life, the flakes begin their melting.
Ground begins to defrost
nourishing the newly born life.
Animals begin to stir, coming from hibernation.
They chipper and chase, singing new songs.
What seemed to be an eternal winter,
has started to come back to life.
The ground shivers as its blanket is slowly torn off.
Rivers resume motion,
shaking off the frost bitten epithelial layer.
As the world begins to awaken,
from its deep slumber.
The nutrients of spring and warmth in the air
begin to liven the life.
Winter has ended, and spring has arrived.
