Catching up With the Doctor (Achenbach)
Dr. Hart Achenbach grew up in Orlando, Florida and now resides at Nichols Village in Groveland. Although his mother wanted him to be a pediatrician, Dr. Archenbach had his own calling and became a surgeon. After graduating from Harvard, he fulfilled an internship at Boston City Hospital. At that time it was common to work 48 hour shifts without breaks.
The Dr. also served in the United States Navy during World War II, which explains his keen interest in history. In fact, with regard to high school, he claims his favorite class was history. He enjoys reading history books, and states his favorite book is War and Peace.
In Addition, Dr. Archenbach was an avid sailor on the ‘Rambler’. He sailed throughout the Caribbean, from Gloucester to Chile and Easter Island, and has been fortunate enough to catch a tuna, which is not an easy task. The Dr. also traveled a number of times for surgeries and has been to South Africa three times.
Dr. Achenbach has certainly had an interesting life. Not many can claim they used to catch alligators and sell them for a dollar.
