It’s been nine years since the last student exchange at Pentucket.
From October 2nd to 15th, Penucket hosted nine German students and a couple of parents. Exchange students stayed with host families for two weeks and went on exciting field trips to get the American experience.
The Exchange students came from Rheine, Germany, as a part of the GAAP exchange program.
In June, Pentucket students can go to Germany to stay with host families.
The students, Pia, Melissa, Erik, Jonas, Mia, Greta, Micaela, Celine, and Lea experienced different aspects of American culture. We went to Boston, a Celtics game, the Rockingham Mall, and an American movie theater where we saw Dumb Money (which was really good.)
I hosted Pia for those two weeks; we did a lot of fun activities. When asked what her favorite memory of being in America was, she says, “My favorite memory of America was the football games.” When she was here, we went to the pink out football game and the jersey out game.

On the first Sunday they were here we all went to a Celtics game in Boston. We rode the train there and back, and the Celtics won the game.

Erik, who was a fan favorite at Pentucket says that he was surprised at how nice people were. When asked what his favorite memory is, he says, “the football games.” He says he enjoyed the atmosphere at the school a lot and he is eager to meet people again if an opportunity presents itself. A notable quote from him is: “I love America!”
AnnaRose Bissitt, a sophomore who hosted Melissa, really enjoyed this experience. She said that Melissa went to most of her classes.
When asking students at Pentucket if they had any exchange students in their classes, most said yes. The exchange students got to experience several new classes that they do not have in Germany, such as Video Production and Video Game Modding.
When talking to Mr. Bart about German students who went to his classes he says: “ They were efficient, on task, courteous, and they got a video done in a couple of days, but do you think when they are back in Germany they will wander the halls like students here do?” Mr. Bart was impressed by the productivity the German students showed in his class.
Many students and teachers had a great time with the exchange students.
This year’s exchange went very well. We did a lot of fun activities like going to a Celtics game and going to Boston for a day. Everyone had positive things to say when asked. I think I can say that we would love for the Exchange students to return next year.
