Have you ever been on the sidelines of a Pentucket High School football game and wondered where the team is going in the future?
Pentucket’s 8th-grade football team has shown great spirit and pride this year. After going to the super bowl last year, they are coming back better than ever. Unfortunately, these young 8th graders get little attention from the fans and students of the Pentucket Middle High School. However, their ability to make Pentucket football great is in their hands.
These devoted young boys practice every day on a little field at the Pines Park in Groveland. Under the lights, the boys practice hard to become the great players that they strive to be while dodging mosquitoes and kicking up what is left of the grass at the Pines field.
Last Year’s Standings
Last year, the Pentucket High School football team had an overall standing of 7 wins and 2 losses. They made a big improvement from the previous year when they went 1-11.
With the help of the diligent players making their way from middle school, football here at Pentucket will continue to climb their way up the rankings.
Perspective From The Players
I interviewed one of the middle school football team captains for the team this year, Jack Baer, #13. I asked him how he thinks the team is going to be this year. He responded with, “I think we are going to be good. We have a good quarterback, Captain Nathan Rollins #88. We have a good line and some good receivers.”
Baer continued the conversation about how he thinks they have a shot to win the super bowl this year. “I think there is a chance but there are some tough teams in our division. The top three teams are us, Lynnfield, and North Reading.”
Additionally, I interviewed Cameron Gagnon, who is also on the 8th-grade team. He said confidentiality that his team is going to be super bowl champions this year: “We are going to win it this year.” He followed up with that Masconomet’s football team is also quite good and it is going to be tough to beat them.
In the years to come, Pentucket football is going to make a huge comeback due to these middle schoolers. Already this year, they have wiped out their first two teams, Amesbury and Lynnfield. It is so exciting to see what is yet to come from these middle schoolers!
