Pentucket’s Spirit Week welcomed some of its most beloved participants: Pentucket’s youngest group, the support dogs. These four-legged friends brought extra smiles, comfort, and school spirit to students and staff alike, proving that Spirit Week is far more inclusive than we thought.
Support Dogs Steal the Show!
During Pentucket’s annual Spirit Week, students and staff showed off their school pride through themed activities. This year, therapy dogs Gia and Iggy joined the festivities, dressing up in colorful outfits and cozy pajamas to match each day’s theme. Their presence not only brought joy but also highlighted inclusivity and community spirit.
“It’s so great that Gia and Iggy can take part in Spirit Week. They bring so much happiness to staff and students,” said Katie Martin, Gia’s handler. “Seeing the pups dressed up brings an even bigger smile to everyone’s face.”
Student Perspectives
Students were thrilled to see the dogs dressed up. Their involvement added a unique touch to the week.
“They made the week so much more fun and relaxing,” said Makenna O’Connor, a freshman.
“It’s cute and inclusive,” added Avalyn Weaver, a sophomore.
Freshman Mia Covey noted, “I didn’t even notice they were participating, but I think it’s adorable and promotes inclusivity.”
Therapy Dogs at Pentucket
Gia and Iggy are trained therapy dogs who play an important role in Pentucket’s community. Even in their first year at Pentucket, they offer comfort and companionship to students, particularly those in the special education program. For others, they provide a welcoming break from the stress of school life.
“I think it is a lot of fun for the school community!” said Megan Goldweber, Iggy’s handler. “We get to be a little silly with the dogs and make the students and staff smile.”
Paws-itively Impactful
The presence of support dogs during Spirit Week boosted morale and created a sense of excitement across the school. Their adorable outfits and friendly demeanor offered a much-needed stress reliever for students and staff alike.
“I think it is very cute,” said Jacob Carter, a freshman.
As Spirit Week wrapped up, the support dogs left behind wagging tails, fond memories, and the hope that they’ll be there for future events.
A Bright Future
Pentucket’s Spirit Week wouldn’t have been the same without Gia and Iggy. Their participation brought joy, inclusivity, and a unique element of unity to the school community. Everyone is hoping this paws-itively adorable tradition continues for years to come!
