The Boys Pentucket Hockey team’s season has just come to an end, but what a season they have put together. Led by Captain Aaron Wirwicz, they ended the season with a record of 9-13, which led to them beating Lunenburg 5-2 in the playoffs, snapping their 8-year-long playoff win drought. Unfortunately, their season came to a close with a 3-8 loss against Dedham, but there will be another electrifying season next year.
Leadership is one of the most important factors in sports. Captain Aaron Wirwicz shows this perfectly, as he was one of the most pivotal players in this team. Wirwicz said: “I [definitely think] that we have created a family bond that helps us build off each other, and [it] helps us build off each other and have a connection on and off the ice.”
The flip in the script of the team compared to last season has been exciting for us Pentucket Hockey fans to watch. There were lots of contributing factors compared to last season, one being the win versus Newburyport, where they won 5-3. Mac Cole, one of the Assistant Captains of Pentucket Boys Hockey, said: “It really got us going. We finally got a win in the rivalry, and there is no greater feeling.”
John Racki, another player on Pentucket Boys Hockey, said: “I think that the win against Newburyport really got us going. Everyone at Pentucket knows that Newburyport is one of our biggest rivals, and a win against a rival really makes you feel good. It made our team good.”
Additionally, the future of Pentucket Hockey is in good hands. The current sophomores, or the future juniors, have a lot of talent at their disposal. With players such as Owen Case, Charlie Botto, Cooper Lecolst, and Sam Escobar, the team will be ready for anything thrown their way.
Furthermore, the team has lots of coverage if you are unable to make it to one of the games. Photographers, such as @aimphoto1, @oaalshots, @arjw.media, and many more can be found on Instagram, where they take fantastic photos of various sports. Photography seems to be a growing trend in Pentucket’s overall future.
Pentucket Hockey will be very exciting to watch in the coming years. The team will most likely be holding all of their games in the ‘25-26 season at Veterans Memorial Rink. It can be found at 137 Monument St, Haverhill, MA, 01832. We hope to see you there next year. Go Panthers!
