Pink Flowers
I’m transported back to a time of no worries,
Where getting up early was only for pleasure.
The beach was the front yard,
the commercialized streets were the back.
The pink flowers reminded me of the wind in my hair,
Leaving me with only happy thoughts to bear.
The sun and warmth spread across my face,
A smile so strong that nothing could break.

I think this poem is beautifully written, and a great expression of the feeling of growing up or being free. I can easily relate to the topic as well as the imagery. You have a very good choice of words, that feel both relaxed and sad at the same time, and your use of the 5 senses is displayed nicely. The overall poem seems very nostalgic, but very true. In addition, I like that you chose “pink flowers” as your title, as flowers are innocent, yet grow and die. Nice job! 🙂
