Gang Violence Presentation
This past Tuesday, November, 17th, a current Massachusetts state trooper, Sergeant Greg Nadeau gave a presentation for Pentucket students on the topic of gang violence. The presentation was offered to Mr. Sherman’s public safety and global issues classes. For an hour and a half, we learned about the gang recognition and activity in the Greater Boston area. Sergeant Nadeau gave us some examples of gang’s he has had to combat. For example, in our area alone, we face the risk of encountering members of the Latin Kings, the Asian Boyz, La Familia, and Hells Angels, to name a few. We also face the Bloods and the Crips as well, who are both national gangs based out of Los Angeles, California. One of the most interesting parts of the presentation was when Sergeant Nadeau talked about going undercover, infiltrating these gangs. He has had to gain the members trust and be someone he isn’t. Constantly in danger, troopers like Sergeant Nadeau risk their lives everyday to make the community safer for everyone. This job is difficult, dangerous, and taxing of the families of these troopers, making us appreciate everything they do for our safety and security.

Great article. It’s a good opportunity to educate before venturing out into the real world.

I think that it was a great having someone speak to the school about this kind of stuff because it truly is something that we have to think about these days and it just shows everyone that is truly is a problem.

I like the variety of stories on the Pentucket Profile, and I like this story especially. The focus on gang related crimes in our area is not really talked about, even though it should be talked about. Great job on this article.

I think this shows a very well needed light on the hidden battles that happens in our surrounding community. The article also presents the risk undercover agents face everyday on the job. Overall, this was a very interesting and informative article.

I think it is interesting how Pentucket is offering these opportunities for us to be able to see some job opportunities outside of the normal ones we are exposed to.

Presentations such as this are great at introducing a different perspective to the students here. It is great to see that such presentations are available to us.

Great article and it seems that the presentation was great for kids to start learning about topics they might not think they are interested in.

I think that it’s great that the school is having a presentation on the true realities of the world, outside of our safe pentucket community.

I think it is amazing how someone like Sargent Greg Nadeau can come into our school and teach students about what is going on in our world that we may not know about.

I think that it is a good idea for the classes of public safety and global issues to be informed of the many possibilities that can occur from gang violence in the Greater Boston area.

I think it is good that this information is being shared with Pentucket students. It helps inform them of what is going on around them.

I think that this presentation was a great opportunity that Pentucket students had to learn about unique topics from experts in the gang violence field. The State Police put on an excellent presentation that day.
