Pentucket In Pictures: 2021… Homecoming?
November 22, 2021
As is quite on brand with the past few years of school, Pentucket’s 2021 Homecoming dance could not be thrown normally… so we got creative.
Due to Covid-19, school dances are not welcomed inside school buildings, and thus, (as we saw with the Fall Festival dance) have to be held outdoors. However, seeing that the night of Saturday, November 20th was about 29 degrees outside, there was no way that would have ever worked out.
Even though the student council promised students there would be a homecoming this year, there was no way to execute it saftely. Dreams were crushed as students thought that yet another event would be ruined and cancelled… But then! Parents got word that homecoming was looking like a bust, so a group of highly motivated and caring moms and dads took to planning a one-of-a-kind, new-fangled homecoming dance.
So, with the help of the Pentucket community, the students were able to have a dance at the Black Swan Country Club in Georgetown. The upstairs function room was the perfect space to hold the dance, and students were totally in favor. Well over 350 students attended the dance- the most we have had in a long, long time! The money raised from tickets then went to the Senior Celebration event that will come up later in the Spring.
Parents were adamant that the Class of ’22 seniors were to not lose out on yet another classic high school experience, and all of us seniors are extremely grateful for all of the love and hardwork that went into this dance. It was a really fun time to get to have an upscale dance and be able to have fun with all of the grades together. And, although many other parts of our usual spirit week have nto worked out how many of us wanted, all Pentucket students are happy to go with the flow and create new memories that will maybe even become tradition.
Please enjoy some photos from the 2021 “Homecoming” Dance 🙂
