Pond Exploration
Last Friday Ms.Kelly’s Robotics II class presented their final quarterly projects. For the entire first quarter the students worked in groups of three to build a fully submersible submarine. These submarines were then tested in the High School’s pond out front. The students final project was to put together an attachment to successfully collect soil or water samples from the pond. In presenting their final projects students had put together PowerPoints to explain their group’s procedures and successes as well as their struggles. Also two members from each of the groups took their submarines out for demonstrations in the pond. Middle School and High School seventh period classes were invited to attend if they wished. Students of the robotics class were graded on their findings, their quality of work, and their presentation skills.

Wow! It’s amazing to see what’s in the pond!

It’s so interesting to know there is actually life in the pond. I would have never thought there would be!

I think it’s fascinating that they’re exploring the pond, I’d love to know all the little things at ur bottom of it

I didn’t think that a fish could survive in that pond.

Thats so cool, always wondered what the depths of that pond looked like!

It is hard to believe that the Pentucket pond can support life and be in such good chemical condition even though it looks rather unsettling. Nature finds a way.

I think the technology created by the robotics class really exceeds our expectations of how we can observe the world.

It is awesome that the students get to explore the pond and see what they can find. Very interesting.

Such an interesting project, I had no idea that there could even be living fish in our pond. Also really cool that the robotics classes were able to do this.

We did similar experiments in AP bio, where we tested the pond water to see it it was a healthy environment. It still wireds me out that even though the pond looks so disgusting it can support life. Also, I kinda think the weird structure in the middle looks like a rotting bed frame…..which is actually creepy. But still a really cool project!

This is very interesting! I can’t believe that the pond is so full of life and other hidden things. It is also very cool to see our robotics program exploring nature.

Really cool, I wonder what else is in the pond!

This was a very clever idea to attach a gopro to the submarine, must of have taken a lot of hard work, nice job Robotics class!

Wow, who knew the pond was so full of interesting things!

Wow this is fascinating. It almost looks like an old wooden table was put there a while ago. Also I am both happy and rather mortified that there is actually fish in that pond. If there was one fish who knows how many more there could be. Props though for making the mini submarines to go investigate the great unknown.
