Apple’s New iPhone: the SE

Apple’s New iPhone: the SE

At the latest Apple event on Monday, March 21st, the new iPhone was revealed: the iPhone SE. It has practically all of the same features as the 6S and is two hundred dollars less than the 6S, making it the most inexpensive iPhone yet. What’s not to love?

Apparently, one little thing in particular: the size.

Apple has gone back to the 4 inch screen of the iPhone 5 as opposed to the 4.7 inch screen of its successors, the iPhone 6 and 6S. What do people prefer? Cheap and small or big and expensive?

Sophomore Taylor Fitzpatrick says, “I like the size of my 6. When I hold my old iPhone 4 (3.5 inch screen), it’s so small. I don’t think I can ever go back to a smaller screen. It would be so weird.”

Others seem to disagree, Sophomore Laurel Omasta says, “I’m glad that Apple is going back to the size of the iPhone 5. It fits my hand, and I don’t need a huge phone.”

Jessie Anderson strongly believes that the size of the 6S is the better choice by saying, “I have a 5 right now and I hate it. I can’t do anything on it; it’s so small.”
Is the 0.7 inch difference in screen size important enough to pay $200 more for the 6S?  If you’ve had an iPhone 6 or 6S, it will probably be uncomfortable to go back to a smaller screen. However, if you do not have a huge hand and it’s your first phone or you’ve simply never upgraded to the recent sizes, then the less expensive iPhone SE is the phone for you. The choice remains a matter of personal preference.
