Why is high school so hard?

First and foremost, high school is different for everyone. Despite these differences, we all share the same struggle, balance. The balance of life in and out of school is the most difficult thing. No matter what it is, work, family, friends, sports, there is always something to get in the way of life and school. Balance is something no one has yet to perfect, but it is important to find a spot where self success meets academic success. High school isn’t the one thing that is so difficult, it is finding a way to deal with it in the midst of life in general. There are a few ways to make high school a bit easier from our experience:

  • Study halls are valuable; don’t save them all for senior year, that is a myth. Take them throughout the four years, it makes getting your work done SO much easier.
  • Self discipline is key. Make sure you set deadlines, teachers won’t remind you to do work.
  • School Loop is your friend. Make sure to regularly check it and make sure you don’t forget about assignments, it happens!!!!!
  • Put your well being first; if you are in a bad place because of stress from school work, it is time to take a break. Sometimes a zero is no big deal. Sleep also plays a role in your stress level. Don’t stay up till 1am doing your work, do it right when you get home to save yourself needed sleep time.
  • Weekends are your time to shine. Get your weekend homework done early Friday so you have the rest of your weekend to enjoy stress free. Sunday nights are also a chill time to lay low and get your work done.

Remember, school isn’t always the most important thing in your life. Don’t let it take over your life completely, and if you need a break, take one. Your well being comes first. Remember, your teachers can be friends! they will understand if you need extended deadlines or extra help! We hope high school treats you all well!
