Remember the year 2020? Not really? Yeah me neither. Practically the whole world wasn’t able to see their family, friends, or play sports without worrying about the spread of COVID-19. Watching T.V was really the only safe thing you could do.

All I remember about that year is how many different T.V shows I streamed. Netflix was the most popular service, with thousands of shows to choose from, and a majority of students here at Pentucket have a subscription to Netflix. I interviewed them to get their opinions on the rankings of the shows. A lot of the students claimed that their favorite show(s) was on the list, like junior Luke Denahey, who told me, “The Office and then The Crown.”

Senior Emma Lopata said, “Grey’s Anatomy is my favorite.”

I then asked people about whether or not they agreed with the ranking that each show got. Ms. Ducolon said, “At least Ozark and The Crown definitely, they should be in the top ten.”

Lopata then explained “I do agree, I just thought Tiger King would be higher and that Ozark would be lower, but it looks pretty accurate to me.”

2020 was the year where Netflix’s ratings went through the roof, and the top ten shows had been streamed for over 15 billion minutes.

Starting with #10, Netflix’s original limited series, Tiger King, was streamed for over 15 billion minutes (38.6% of Pentucket students agree with this ranking while 61.4% do not).

#9 was another Netflix original, The Crown, with 16 billion minutes streamed (43.9% of Pentucket students agreed with this ranking while 56.1% did not).

#8 was a Showtime original, Shameless, which had been streamed for 18 billion minutes (61.4% of Pentucket students agree with this ranking while 38.6% do not).

#7 was a CW and Warner Brothers show called Supernatural, with 20 billion minutes streamed (47.4% of Pentucket students agree with this ranking while 52.6% do not).

#6 was a CBC Television original, Schitt’s Creek, with only 23 billion minutes streamed, which is really surprising considering how many Emmy awards and recognition it was receiving in 2020 (54.4% of Pentucket students agree with this ranking while 45.6% do not).

#5 is a CBS program called NCIS, which had 28 billion minutes streamed (31.6% of Pentucket students agree with this ranking while 68.4% do not).

#4 is another Netflix original, Ozark, and it was streamed for 30 billion minutes (19.3% of Pentucket students agree with this ranking while 80.7% do not).

#3 is another CBS program, Criminal Minds, which had 35 billion minutes streamed (48.3% of Pentucket students agree with this ranking while 51.7%  do not).

#2 is ABC’s smash hit, Grey’s Anatomy, which had 39.4 billion minutes streamed (42.4% of Pentucket students agree with this ranking while 57.6% do not).

And finally, #1, coming in at an astronomical number, an NBC original, and fan-favorite, The Office, with 57 billion minutes streamed (57.9% of Pentucket students agree with this ranking while 42.1% do not).
