Do you believe in Reincarnation?

M.Alan Kazlev

Although it is extremely hard to predict what life is after death, many people believe in reincarnation. Reincarnation is the rebirth of a soul in a new body.

Pentucket Senior, Abigail Lacey, states that she “strongly believes in reincarnation,” further adding that reincarnation “seems like a believable interpretation of afterlife.”

After interviewing many students and staff at Pentucket High School, Lacey seems to be the most passionate advocate for reincarnation.

“What I like about reincarnation is that it describes our lives as something that has value and worth. Each soul chooses its life for a reason and continues to live on throughout a span of millions of lives,” said Lacey.

Lacey spoke avidly about this topic, especially since her father introduced the concept of this extraordinary rebirth to her as a teenager. Lacey spoke about her father saying, “…my dad is really the one who introduced me and my family to the idea…he has a collection of books that discuss the process of reincarnation and how souls use bodies as vehicles to learn something from each life it lives.”

Pentucket senior, Savannah Russell agrees with Lacey, stating, “I think each of us have soul, or our own energy…and when we die, the energy or soul doesn’t just disappear. I do think that it is very possible that the energy could absorb back into earth and create new life.”

Savannah and Abigail are not alone; there are many celebrities who believe in the concept of reincarnation, including Helena Bonham Carter, Shirley MacLaine, Kate Moss, and even Halle Berry.

Pentucket Senior, Jordan Balletto, opposes the belief in reincarnation stating, “I do not believe in the theory of reincarnation. I believe in a different form of an afterlife, I believe in the concept of heaven and hell.”

“You don’t have a soul, you are a soul. You have a body.”
