Pentucket Girls Blowout Wakefield
After four quarters of absolute domination by the Pentucket Girls Basketball team, the final score was 61-35. Pentucket and Wakefield fans packed the gym creating a great atmosphere for a high school basketball game. In the first quarter, Pentucket’s defense was unbeatable while their offense went to work. Cape Ann League Player of the year Kelsi McNamara started the game off by draining a three, giving Pentucket an early lead. At the end of the 1st, Pentucket was on top 15-4. In the 2nd, Pentucket went off on a 17-0 run. From there, it was too late for the Wakefield girls to come back as Pentucket continued to stop them defensively. At the end of the first half, Pentucket outscored Wakefield 34-9. In the 3rd, Wakefield picked up the pace ending the quarter with a score of 45-22, but from then on it was already too late. In the fourth quarter, Pentucket sent out their reserve players allowing them to get a chance to play some varsity basketball in the playoffs. Kelsi McNamara finished the game with 21 points, which means she is 11 points away from Ashley Viselli’s scoring record of 1,230 points. The Pentucket girls will go on to play in the MIAA D2 North Semifinals.
