Things to do Over Christmas Break
School vacations can be the best and worst breaks ever. There is everything to do in the world and nothing to do at the same time. Here are some things to conquer boredom over this upcoming Christmas break.
One thing you can do over this Christmas break is watch every Christmas movie you can find. There are so many classics to watch, like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Elf, The Polar Express, A Christmas Carol, It’s a Wonderful Life, Home Alone (There are four movies total), Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, The Santa Claus, and so much more.
Another classic Christmas break activity is baking! There are so many recipes you can find online and all you need are the right ingredients. Peanut butter cookies with a Hershey’s kiss in the middle are my personal favorite. You can find the recipe on the Betty Crocker Baking site.
Baking and even cooking is perfect for those snow days when it’s too cold to leave the house and too dangerous to drive, if we even end up getting snow this Christmas break. Bake extra and give them to friends, family, neighbors, and anyone inbetween! Incorporate them into your gifts for your friends and family. Even make a little extra for yourself.
Go ice skating, go play out in the snow, or go sledding in your backyard or on a nearby hill. If the temperature ever does go below fifty degrees, and Mother Nature decides to bring snow to us this winter break, then building snowmen, sledding, and going out in the snow is the perfect for an all day activity. No matter your age, going out in the snow will never be “uncool”.
After long days out in the cold, there is always hot chocolate to come inside to and drink with lots of mini marshmallows. Even a candy cane if you wish. Whatever floats your boat.
Make homemade gifts for your family, or put together gifts for your friends and family. Any small, little, inexpensive gift is a great thought. It does not matter the size, it is the thought that counts. Make ornaments to give to your friends and family. Go on Pinterest and search for fun little gifts to give to someone special.
Spend the day making decorations for your house! Making paper snowflakes, making homemade ornaments for your own tree, making paintings, and painting mugs are my favorite part of Christmas break. I get to do things however I want and I get to show my creativity through some fun artsy fartsy activities.
Spending time with friends is also a fun thing to do. Especially spending time and catching up with old friends who you have not seen in awhile. You can even do all the above said activities with your friends, to make a whole day of fun.
Winter break can be the most fun you’ll have all year, or just another boring break. Unless, you make it fun and do something that you enjoy.
