Who is Mr.Bixby? Proust Questionnaire

Tia Zanardi and Audra Foster

You may think you know who your video/art teacher Mr. Sean Bixby is, but the truth is you may not. We asked the infamous illustrator Mr. Bixby the Proust questions, a questionnaire created to make a person think more deeply than in the average interview. The questions were designed by Marcel Proust, a French essayist and novelist, and they are meant to reveal the core of a person and unveil new information about them. This is Mr. Bixby, exposed:

  1. So, the first question is, what is your idea of perfect happiness?

“Perfect happiness would be to be surrounded by good friends and family and not have to worry about paying bills, and to have some vacation.”

2.What is your greatest fear?

“Greatest fear? Giant snakes are a big one, also not a big fan of airplanes.”

3.What is your current state of mind?

“Current state of mind is overwhelmed.”

4.On what occasion do you lie?

“If I think it’s news that a person may not need to know, and it may not be the time to tell them.”

5.Which living person do you most despise?

“Living person? Oh geez, I don’t know about that one.”

  1. Which living person do you most admire?

“Um, I don’t know, probably go back to friends and family.”

6.Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

“I do catch myself saying “um” a lot. Um, um, um…”

7.Which talent would you most like to have?

“I would like to be able to play an instrument, maybe guitar.”

8.What do you consider your greatest achievement?

“Being a published illustrator would be a good one.”

9.If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

“I’d be a dog. A dog in a good family…or a bear. A bear on a hill in a blackberry patch or something like that would be pretty cool.”

10.What is your favorite occupation?

“Artist, art educator.”

11.Who is your hero of fiction?

“I’d say Indiana Jones.”

12.Which historical figure do you most identify with?

“Caught me off guard with that one…I would have to give that one thought.”

  1. And lastly, what is your motto?

“My motto? Live and let live.”

Based on this interview, the most important things to conclude are that Mr. Bixby loves Indiana Jones, something many of us may not have known; he is afraid of snakes, which is good to know; and that he secretly would love to be a dog.
