When I think of Christmas, I see the snow outside, and Christmas lights and decorations all around the neighborhood. Hot chocolate in my hand, Home Alone playing on the TV, all while Christmas music is playing in the background.
Christmas and the holiday season are one of the best parts of the year. One gets to look forward to it throughout the months of November and December. It is also just a great way to end the year as you are with your family and surrounded by joy and love.
Sophomore Sawyer Call says that she loves the holiday season because of “the energy and how all the snow on the ground looks and the decorations.” To add, sophomore Agatha Quinlan says she loves the holidays because “The music and everything is just happier in December with the Christmas season. I also like the decorations. They are really pretty.”
One of the best parts of the holiday season has to be the movies and music associated with the time of year. Sophomore Lily Crowder says that her favorite Christmas movie and song is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation because it is really funny and I watch it with my family multiple times during the holidays, so it’s like a tradition.” She also spoke on her favorite songs for the holiday, commenting that her “favorite Christmas song is ‘Merry Christmas, Please Don’t Call’ by Bleachers as it gives a good Christmas spirit.”
With Christmas comes many traditions, sophomore Jessy Krisiak says that “Every year on Christmas Eve I go to my dad’s family’s house and everyone gets ornaments, we also have a chocolate cake every year. Everyone gets matching pajamas too.” In addition, sophomore Jadalyze Reyes says that “my family goes from youngest to oldest to open presents and we make a Christmas breakfast.”
For many people, Christmas is one of the most magical times of the year because of the joy and happiness that come with the holiday season. People express their joyful spirit through spending time with family, decorating their house, baking cookies, and helping others. Christmas is not all about receiving gifts or asking for the most expensive gifts; it’s about giving back to people and spending time with your loved ones.
